North Korea ( Democratic People's Republic of Korea or DPRK)
- A country in East Asia, located in the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its capital is Pyongyang, the country's largest city by both land area and population.
- It covers an area of 120,540 square kilometers (46,541 sq mi).
- The government is the executive branch of the state, according to the Constitution of North Korea. The highest decisions are made by the National Defense Commission of North Korea which is currently led by its Chairman Kim Jong-un.
- The economy of North Korea operates under the Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and issues the North Korean won. North Korea has an industrialized, highly centralized command economy. North Korea is one of only two countries (along with Cuba) with an almost entirely government-planned, country-owned economy.
- The KPA (Korean People's Army) consists of five branches:Ground Force, the Navy, the Air Force, the Strategic Rocket Forces, and the Special Operation Force.
- Their headquarters are in Pyongyang, North Korea.
- North Korea is the most militarized country in the world today, having the fourth largest army in the world, at about 1,106,000 armed personnel.
